Horse Expo Events is pleased to announce that two of this year’s headlining clinicians for Horse Expo Pomona will include Nick Karazissis and Dr. Christian Schacht. Horse Expo Pomona is scheduled for February 2-4, 2011 at the Fairplex. Riders of all disciplines can benefit from watching and participating in the clinics presented by Karazissis and Schacht.
Karazissis is a USEF R judge based at his family’s Far West Farms, where the country’s top hunter, jumper, and equitation horses and riders are produced each year. For over 25 years, Karazissis has been conducting educational clinics for horses and riders to improve their skills in the ring. He is a part of the CPHA and PCHA Board of Directors, the USHJA Zone 10 Hunter Committee, the USHJA Official’s Education Committee, the USHJA Equitation Task Force, and the USEF’s Continuing Education Committee.
During Horse Expo Pomona, Karazissis will be demonstrating some of the fundamental tools featured in the “Get Connected” DVD, which he helped produce. It is now one of the main clinic tools used for all USEF Hunter/Equitation Clinics. This Non for Profit DVD will be available at the event, and all proceeds go to future educational projects.
Dr. Christian Schacht will also be one of the featured presenters at Horse Expo Pomona focusing on breeding for function and the conformation of sport horses. His background includes breeding European sporthorses, judging at the highest national levels of competition, and showing in the disciplines of eventing, dressage and show jumping up to Prix St. George and 1.40m classes. He received his degree in veterinary medicine in 1993 from Tierärztliche HochschuleHannover, and during his time there he also won the German Championship for student riders.
After reciving his degree, Dr. Schacht focused on being a professional rider and is the winner of the Steensbeck Medal. He is also the author of several books about riding and maintaining the soundness of horses, as well as Director for the ISR/Oldenburg N.A. – the largest Registry of its kind in North America.Today, Dr. Schacht continues to ride, judge and train in Germany and maintains a small breeding program at his private farm.
