Millbrook Horse Trials Next Stop on the PRO Event Tour

Millbrook, NY – July 21, 2010 - The 10^th annual Millbrook Horse Trials, taking place August 5-8, 2010, features a new twist this year, as the Advanced division is part of the 2010 PRO Tour Event Series. The Millbrook Horse Trials is one of only two Advanced competitions that are part of the PRO Tour Event Series.

The Millbrook Horse Trials is held over four days and attracts the country’s best professional and amateur riders. The competition features Beginner Novice through Advanced divisions, and proceeds benefit the Dutchess Land Conservancy, which has preserved more than 30,000 acres throughout Dutchess County, New York.

This year’s competition is sure to be quite special as riders prepare their horses for the World Equestrian Games held in September in Lexington, KY. Karen O’Connor, Philip Dutton, Boyd Martin, Buck Davidson and Leslie Law will be among the professionals competing at Millbrook who have international experience representing the United States, Australia and Great Britain.

“This is truly a celebratory year,” said Nancy Hathawary, MHT Organizer, “the 10 year anniversary of the new Millbrook Horse Trials, 25th for the Dutchess Land Conservancy, our first partnership with the Professional Riders Organization, and the expectation of having some of the best riders in the world competing right here on our courses in Millbrook.  We are excited and we will be ready.”

The 2010 PRO Tour Event Series is held at the Advanced and Three-Star levels throughout the United States. Event riders and their horses will be vying for prize money at each destination with the ultimate goal of being on top of the end of year PRO Tour Riders Leader Board for a chance to win the PRO Tour Event Series Trophy and a cash bonus pool award. The 2010 PRO Tour Event Series includes:

March 19-21 ~ Southern Pines II, Advanced Division (Raeford, NC)
April 1-4 ~ The Fork CIC3* (Norwood, NC)
May 5-9 ~ Jersey Fresh, CCI3* (Allentown, NJ)
August 5-8 ~ The Millbrook Horse Trials, Advanced Division (Millbrook, NY)
September 19-21 ~ Plantation Field International CIC3* (Unionville, PA)
October 14-17 ~ Dansko Fair Hill International CCI3* (Elkton, MD)
November 5-7 ~ Galway Downs CCI3* (Temecula, CA)

The Millbrook Horse Trials, presented by Lufthansa, Marshall & Sterling and Poland Spring, will also feature several events for competitors and spectators alike, including:
· Ring-side marquee for Patrons, Owners, Riders and Sponsors
· Patrons’ Luncheon, Sunday August 8^th, 12 to 2 p.m. to benefit the Dutchess Land Conservancy’s 25^thAnniversary
· Kerry Milliken, US Individual Olympic Bronze Medalist to give Show Jumping Course Walk between the Intermediate and Advanced Divisions
· Vaughn Jeffries, 1994 World Champion and New Zealand Olympic Team Equestrian to provide commentary during Sunday’s Show Jumping rounds
· Trade Fair
· Running Fox Pony Club Games with PRO riders on Sunday directly after Show Jumping
· Course Walks led by top professionals
