Regret...

If you ask anyone who rescues horse, there is always one horse that haunts them. One horse that for whatever reason, they were not able to save. One that haunts them and whose memory can bring tears to the eyes.


I have this horse as well. I regret, regret, regret that I did not have the room to save this older white mare. She came into the Cedar City auction a few years ago after we had already bid and filled our trailer. We did not have the room and we had to turn away from her and her friend.



She was bought by the Killer. Here she is in the Killer's pen after the auction.

Just seeing her photo makes me cry. Because of her, I will never allow this to happen again. If it means two trips to get all the horses to Shiloh, we now do it. We always take the oldest horse at the auctions, just to give them a loving place to end their day! s.

Because of her, horses like Melvyn, P. Shaggy and Mendoza have found safety at Shiloh. Sadly, for me, this doesn't make up for leaving her. She haunts me like a sad ghost...
